Well, I'll tell you!
But before I do, did you know that April is National poetry month? Indeed it is. And as an ode to my love for poetry, I have joined a fun challenge called RhyPiBoMo, also known as Rhyming Picture Book Month. Through this challenge, I took a pledge to 1) Read a rhyming picture book each day, 2) write a poem each day, 3) read the informative and engaging blog posts about poem each day, 4) comment on what I learned, and 5) write and/or revise a rhyming picture book I've written (and I have several) and submit it to be edited by a critique group or editor by the end of April.
Easy peasy!
And so far, I'm off to a GREAT start! My mind has been teeming with possibilities for rhyming stories, and we're only on day four.
Why does any of this matter? Well, kids, if you are someone who wants to get REALLY good at something, it's important to practice your craft. Do that thing you love over and over and over again. And then again. And then a few more times. Go on, continue. And then eventually, you'll get REALLY good at it. But it takes patience. And then, you'll see, practice and persistence pays off. So, I'm taking my own advice and strengthening my own skill for poetry.
What are some things you like to do that you want to get really good at? Do you practice as much as you can? Comment below and tell me all about it!
